About Reece.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate.

My name is Reece Taylor-Yoho (He/Him). I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with my Master of Social Work, and over the past two years, I have had the opportunity to make Boone and the surrounding High Country my home. I've grown to appreciate the mountain culture, sense of community, and slower pace of life that have given me plenty of opportunities to explore, reflect, and put down roots.

I work primarily with young adults and adults navigating trauma, grief and loss, substance use, co-occurring mental health concerns, life transitions, and identity exploration. I have a particular interest in the ways these experiences can overlap and influence one another. Rather than viewing a person through a single diagnosis or concern, I believe it is important to understand the larger story—including the experiences, relationships, environments, and systems that have helped shape who you are.

I approach therapy through a systemic lens while placing a strong emphasis on autonomy and adapting to unique journeys. I believe that understanding what has influenced you does not mean that you are defined by it. Therapy can provide an opportunity to explore both where you’ve come from and where you want to go, while identifying what is within your control, what you can influence, and what you may need to accept. My goal is not to tell you who you should be or how you should live, but to support you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself and making intentional choices about the life you want to build.

I see therapy as something we create together. You know your life and experiences better than anyone, and I bring my clinical knowledge, curiosity, and perspective to help us explore what may be most useful for you. Some sessions may involve processing difficult experiences, while others may focus on developing practical skills, recognizing patterns, working toward meaningful goals, or simply creating space to understand what is happening in your life. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed approaches, adapting these tools to the person rather than expecting the person to fit the approach. When appropriate, I also enjoy incorporating expressive arts activities as another way to explore experiences that may be difficult to put into words.

With life outside of the therapeutic space, I am passionate about continuing to grow in martial arts, spending time with my family and two dogs, crafting up wood working projects, and traveling both locally and abroad. I enjoy being a lifelong learner and finding new ways to challenge myself, connect with others, and appreciate the world around me.

I hope therapy here can be a space where you feel supported enough to be honest, curious enough to explore, and empowered enough to decide what comes next. Wherever you are in your journey, I look forward to meeting you there and working alongside you as you discover what matters to you, navigate what has shaped you, and move toward the life you want to create.
